Recent Grant Recipients

The Decatur County Community Foundation is pleased to announce its most recent round of grant recipients.

Greensburg Community Bread of Life was the only applicant for a small grant this period, and received $1,500 for a new printer and kitchen carts.

Projects receiving up to $15,000 in large grant funding this cycle include:

Covenant Resources: Miscarriage Ministry for South Park Little Souls Cemetery

Decatur County Kids Closet: Middle School Up

Decatur County Memorial Hospital: Detect It, Treat It, Defeat It

Decatur County Community Schools: Helping Our Youth Behavior Management

Girls, Inc.: Breath Clean, Avoid the Vaping Scene

Greensburg Community Schools: GCHS Piano Class

Greensburg United Methodist Church: Zamar Music

Purdue Extension Decatur County: Mobile Computer Lab

So Loved Kid's Clothing Closet: Back to School Bash

St. Mary's Catholic School: School Safety

Westport Christian: Food Pantry Building Expansion

Both large and small grants are funded through general donations to Community Funds. Community Funds are the most flexible pots of money and are used for making grants that solve pressing community needs. Donations to any community fund are currently being matched $2:$1 by the Lilly Endowment.

Additional grants recently awarded include three Women and Girls grants. These are specifically funded by donations to the Fund for Women and Girls. Recipients include North Decatur High School for their Preserving Dignity Project; New Directions for Self Defense 101; and Girls, Inc. for their Informed Together Hygiene Project.

All donations to the Community Foundation are directed into specific funds as directed by donors. Donations are invested into the market, and the gains earned are used for grant distributions.

For more information on the Community Foundation, applying for a grant, or making a donation, contact the office at 812-662-6364, or at info@dccfound.org.
