Stories from the Grantees: Camp Rainbow

Decatur County Community Foundation is proud to support Camp Rainbow through various grants over the years. Camp Rainbow is a three-week day-camp for students with special needs who range from age six to seventeen. Activities throughout the three-week camp consist of games, arts and crafts, swimming, and local field trips.

When speaking with a camp counselor, Grainger Maxwell, he said, “Camp Rainbow has been an awesome experience and has helped me decide what I want to do in the future. I have been a camp counselor for two years and over the two years it’s been great to watch the kids grow.”

One of the campers, Carter Johnson who has been with the camp for four years said, “My favorite part about camp has been swimming and eating, especially Papa Johns. I am excited to visit the splash pad in Shelbyville.”

Camp Rainbow is currently at full capacity with nineteen campers and a waitlist!

Thank you to the donors of Decatur County Community Foundation for donations to support causes like this.
