In April of 2023, Decatur County Greensburg Marching Arts received a small grant. The primary mission of the Decatur County Greensburg Marching Arts is to assist the directors in the development of excellence in music education, performance skills, and leadership in our students and seek to provide performance opportunities for the youth of Decatur County by unifying students from all three schools into one band.
The Decatur County Greensburg Marching Arts used their granted funds to purchase a mixer. The mixer is the “heartbeat” of a sound system. From the microphone to the speakers, everything runs through this piece of equipment. The mixer is used to balance different sound volumes, combine sounds/audio signals, and control the output volume of speakers. This mixer allows the Marching Arts group to be more competitive and provide a better performance.
Tammy Williams, parent of Decatur County Greensburg Marching Arts participant, said, “We truly are so grateful for the support of the Decatur County Community Foundation. Our students, directors, and parent volunteers work tirelessly to raise funds and donations to offset the cost of the marching band. The DCCF makes it possible to spread those dollars further and give our student musicians everything they deserve.”
